Acupuncture and private health insurance

A good number of private health policies and employee wellbeing plans do offer some form of cover for acupuncture.

I am a recognised provider with Aviva, AXA Health and Vitality. These leading insurers underwrite many other company and private schemes. I can supply relevant provider numbers on request.

Every company and policy is different, so it’s best to check what cover your provider offers and what documentation they require in the first instance.

As a minimum, most will require an invoice and receipt as proof that you have paid for your treatment before they reimburse you. I’m very happy to provide both invoices and receipts – just let me know when you come for your appointment.

Some plans will reimburse me directly on receipt of my invoice. If this is the case I’ll need documentation with details of your current policy.

Your insurer will also want to know that I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (membership number 960403).

I am, of course, fully insured with professional liability cover. .
